Spanish Wonder
London - Madrid - Cuba - Mexico (make your own way to) Costa Rica - Peru - Argentina - London
Madrid
The Capital of Spain is a great starting point, offering travellers a vibrant and lively atmosphere, astonishing art galleries, a renowned live music scene and a feast of great dining. Madrid presents the perfect opportunity for people to brush up on their language skills before embarking on the rest of their adventure.
Cuba
From Madrid to Cuba where travellers can enjoy the sub-tropical climate of the Caribbean, while embracing the rich history of the county. The psychedelic Che Guevara murals, communist groups smoking thick Montecristos, the taste of light Havana rum and the old American cars driving through the streets offer a true insight into the Cuban way of life. Speaking Spanish comes as a huge advantage in Cuba, and will allow people to travel further and dig deeper than the average tourist.
Mexico
Interacting with the locals could mean embarking on an adventure just a few steps off the beaten track – from canyoneering near Monterrey or cooking lessons in the Veracruz countryside, to hiking through the Oaxaca cloud forests and snorkelling the coral reefs of the Yucatán. These are not activities you find in a standard tourist package.
Costa Rica
Often referred to as a ‘paradise’, Costa Rica offers travellers the chance to combine relaxing on a beautiful beach with improving their Spanish skills. Spanish is the primary language spoken in Costa Rica, meaning holidaymakers can fully immerse themselves in the language and culture, whilst also having the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the local dialect.
South America
Peru and Argentina encompass a wide array of cultures, experiences and climates and one way to get to the heart of each destination is by drawing on local knowledge. There are some incredible sights to see, such as Lake Titicaca in Peru or the Glacier Perito Moreno in Argentina, and those who know the language can get much more from each experience than is written in the typical guide book – by asking the right questions and discovering exciting new sights.
