A judge has blocked the US government's attempt to ban the Chinese-owned app, WeChat.
US Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler raised concerns about the ban infringing on people's right to free speech.
The Department of Commerce had announced it was planning to remove the messaging and payment app from the US app stores on Sunday (20.09.20).
Trump's administration claimed WeChat poses a national security threat and could share users' data with the Chinese government, something WeChat has strongly denied.
It comes as Trump gave his "blessing" to a proposed deal which will stop TikTok facing a nationwide ban.
The world leader has reportedly backed a deal with Oracle and Walmart to form a new company to oversee TikTok's US operations.
Trump stated that it would be "totally controlled by Oracle and Walmart".
Despite making it clear he believes the ByteDance, TikTok's Beijing-based parent company, posed a serious national security threat, Trump said: "I have given the deal my blessing."
