The world leader - who was taken to hospital last week after testing positive for COVID-19 - claimed he was immune from the deadly respiratory virus on the micro-blogging site.

Twitter slapped the post with a disclaimer after Trump violated the app's policy for posting misleading and potentially harmful information related to coronavirus and the pandemic.

His post reads: "A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can't get it (immune), and can't give it. Very nice to know!!!"

The tweet has been left on Trump's Twitter page as it's deemed public interest, however the disclaimer attached to it reads: "This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public's interest for the Tweet to remain accessible."

The immunity tweet came after Trump told Fox News' Maria Bartiromo in a televised interview on Sunday (11.10.20) that he was "cured" and now "immune" just a week after his diagnosis.

He claimed: "Once you recover, you're immune. Now you have a president that's immune."

Trump has previously had a string of tweets flagged by Twitter.
