Nvidia are now not only making graphics chipsets but also getting involved in the console field. After the Shield Portable and Shield Tablet comes the Nvidia Shield: a home console and media player.
The device connects to your TV just like you would the Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV, only Nvidia's box is far more powerful. While the Shield can perform all your expected tasks like streaming every and any video format available, it's main power comes when streaming games.
Nvidia revealed the Shield box at the Games Developer Conference in San Francisco earlier this year, and has more recently unveiled an update to its Grid streaming service and a handy new remote for the device. The subscription service will allow you to stream around 50 games per month coming from all genres, old and new.
You can expect to pay around £200 for the box depending on which version you choose, and will be available from 1 October.
