Tina Brian asks :

I want to revamp my whole look, starting with the fashion basics. What pieces should I have in my wardrobe?

These fashion staples will stand the test of time and you'll find that they never date. Ensuring these are a comfortable and flattering fit, you'll never want them to leave your wardrobe.

Here are the fashion basics every woman should own.

Now, bare in mind that spending a little more on these will stand to good use, you'll wear them forever and won't need to keep on replacing them if you invest a little money into them.

Jeans: Shopping for jeans can be like torture, they seem to fit in the shop but once you've had them on for 5 minutes you're constantly tugging at the waist band. My advice is to buy them a little tight, not were you're uncomfortable though, just a little snug as denim stretches as it's worn. Whether it's a slim fit, straight or bootcut, make sure they flatter your frame.

White shirt: Not only has the white shirt made a style comeback this season, you'll find that you'll wear it forever more. Layer it underneath a jumper, wear with black trousers for work, undo a button when you're heading out on a date. The white shirt is a classic.

Cashmere: Whether it's a jumper or a caridgan, whichever suits your style best, all women should own a piece of cashmere. Something you can snuggle into as the temperaure drops.

Little Black Dress: Like the jeans you want something that fits right and you feel comfortable in. Buy a style that suits your frame and you'll wear this piece forever.

Coat: A good strong wool coat will never date, buy one in black, navy or grey. Colours that aren't trend led and will come back into style every year. Again buy a style that suits your frame.

Leather handbag: A leather handbag is only going to get better with age. Like the coat buy it in black, navy, grey or tan. Muted colours that you can wear forever. Make sure it's big enough for your essentials too. Style is completely personal preference.

Hope this helps.
