Britain's Queen Elizabeth paid a visit to East Sussex today (31.10.13).
The 87-year-old royal and her husband Prince Phillip were greeted by crowds of people in Brighton, Lewes and Newhaven as the couple graced the streets of the county for the first time since 2007.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were shown more than 40 varieties of fish caught off the Sussex coast as they turned up at the family-run company West Quay Fisheries, which has been open for almost 40 years, in Newhaven.
Shop manager Kerry Bickerstaff said: "It's an honour. We had the Duke of Kent about 10 years ago but I have never met the Queen before. It's great news for the community to have her here."
The royal pair then went on to visit a youth hostel in the South Downs National Park, where they had a look around some upmarket wooden camping pods at the new £5 million 68-bed hostel in Beddingham, before going on to the Harvey's Brewery in Lewes to enjoy an alcoholic beverage.
The couple's final stop was at the new archive facility The Keep in Brighton.
Julia McCarthy-Fox told The Argus newspaper: "I've been to Newhaven and Lewes this morning and I gave her my flowers. She got a really good reception considering it was so wet and cold. It was really nice."
