Britain's Queen Elizabeth has started accepting posies again.

The 87-year-old royal returned to her tradition of collecting flowers from well-wishes following church on Sunday (19.01.14) after refusing to greet children for the past three weeks.

The monarch disappointed youngsters earlier this month by dashing back to her car following the morning service at Sandringham, Norfolk, England, instead of staying behind to collect bouquets.

Some children - who had travelled especially to see the Queen - were forced to display their flowers by the gates of the church.

Earlier this month, police told parents that the Queen would not be accepting flowers as she had been made late for Christmas lunch due to so many children wanting to present her with gifts.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said previously: "Her Majesty is always grateful whenever people wish to present flowers. However, she does not accept them in person on every occasion."

Meanwhile, the monarch has recently handed some of her royal engagements over to her eldest son Prince Charles so that she can focus on "behind the scenes" duties from now on.

A Palace aide said earlier this week: "The Queen is not shutting up shop. She is still the Queen and is still incredibly busy. It's the constant, daily work of being head of state that takes up so much of her time."
