Queen Elizabeth's old car is to be auctioned for up to £30,000.

A 2001 Daimler V8 Super LWB owned by the British monarch for three years is set to be sold at auction by motoring museum Brookslands in Weybridge, Surrey, later this month and could fetch between £25,000 and £30,000.

The car was driven by the 87-year-old royal within the grounds of Windsor Castle estate, and she also drove it to and from Buckngham Palace for private and official functions.

Brooklands auctioneer Stewart Banks told local newspaper, the Surrey Advertiser: "We are not unaccustomed to selling cars for and on behalf of esteemed owners. However, offering this Daimler takes it to a new level.

"To drive a car that was the Queen's personal Daimler is a unique experience and one that is unlikely to be repeated."

The queen made several bespoke customisations to the car, such as installing a special holder for her handbags.

Queen Elizabeth reportedly insisted on having the holder added as a result of not having anywhere to put her bag while driving with a guest - such as a lady-in-waiting or security guard - in the passenger seat.
