Britain's Queen Elizabeth has taken up official residence at Balmoral.
The 87-year-old monarch arrived in the Scottish Highlands for her annual two-month holiday on July 27, but was only able to move into the main residence yesterday (08.08.13).
The queen was staying in a nearby house on the private estate until it had been prepared for her arrival following the end of the tourist season on July 31, according to the MailOnline.
She was greeted by crowds of supporters outside the gates as she was accompanied by Ballater Guard commanding officer Major Jules Kilpatrick to inspect the Royal Scots Borderers.
Her Majesty has been accompanied by her two corgis, Holly and Willow, since jetting into Balmoral on a private plane late last month without her husband Prince Philip.
The 92-year-old royal is expected to join her on Monday (12.08.13), however, after carrying out his first public engagement two months since he was admitted to hospital for exploratory abdominal surgery.
It has also been suggested the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their new son, Prince George, will join the queen on her private estate for a short holiday.
Elizabeth will stay in Balmoral until October.
