Princess Madeleine

Princess Madeleine

Sweden's Princess Madeleine was pulled over by police just days before her wedding.

The brunette royal - who is due to marry New York banker Christopher O'Neill on Saturday (08.06.13) - was stopped by officials near the Royal Palace of Stockholm, where the nuptials will take place, for driving in a bus lane.

Lars Lindholm, acting head of the unit that stopped Madeleine, told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that she faces a fine of 1,000 kronor (£100) for the offence, and stated her father King Carl XVI Gustaf is the only Swedish royal who has immunity from prosecution.

However, the princess may not have to fork out for the fine as court spokesman Bertil Ternert believes the bride-to-be was driving a car from the Royal Mews and that she had special permission to use the bus lane.

The forthcoming wedding will take place at the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm at 16:00 local time on Saturday afternoon followed by a banquet at Drottningholm Palace.

The couple will travel between the two venues by boat and horse drawn carriage.
