Princess Eugenie's engagement was a "perfect moment".
The 27-year-old royal admits it was a "complete surprise" when Jack Brooksbank got down on one knee in Nicaragua earlier this month.
She said: "The lake was so beautiful. The light was just a special light I had never seen. I actually said this is an incredible moment, and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we have been together seven years. I was over the moon. [It was a] complete surprise. But it was the perfect moment, we couldn't be happier."
Whilst Jack added: "It was love at first sight. I love Eugenie so much and we are just so happy and over the moon for what is to come."
And Jack confessed he didn't even have the ring with him when he decided to propose as he wanted to design it with her.
Speaking on The One Show, he added: "I found a ring in a jewellers and then proposed to Eugenie without it and came back and we designed the diamonds around this padparadscha sapphire. And what's amazing about it is that it changes colour from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie. That she changes colour and is just so amazing."
Buckingham Palace announced Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's engagement on their official social media channels on Monday (22.01.18).
They said in a statement: "The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank. Her Royal Highness and Mr Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month. The wedding will take place in the Autumn of 2018 at George's Chapel in Windsor, with further details to be announced in due course."
