Princess Diana's clothes designer says it was hard to keep her wedding dress a secret.
David Emanuel was tasked with the challenge of making the iconic gown for the Princess of Wales ahead of her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981 and he revealed it had to be kept in its own private wing in Buckingham Palace away from prying eyes.
The 61-year old designer - who is currently appearing as a contestant on 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' - claims the gown's 25 ft train became too big for his shop and it had to be moved to the royal residence.
During Sunday night's episode of the ITV show, he recalled: "I said we can't have these [footmen] here because they're going to see what's going on and they might leak it and we've promised to keep it a secret,"
A chance meeting with an editor at Vogue magazine led to him, and his then wife Elizabeth, making several gowns for Diana - including the iconic strapless black frock she wore to her first public engagement at the Royal Opera House - before being asked to design the ivory silk dress for her wedding.
He laughed: "I picked up a call in the studio and she said, 'It's me'. She never said 'Lady Diana'. I always used to say, 'Hello, Me.' She said, 'I'm just wondering, would you do the honour of designing my wedding gown? I thought, Christ, perhaps it's a hoax call..."
