Princess Diana

Princess Diana

A Princess Diana exhibition has been extended due to its popularity.

The collection, 'Diana: A Celebration', is currently on show at the Putnam Museum in Davenport, Iowa, in the US about the life of late Princess of Wales - who was killed in a car crash in 1997 - and it has been so popular with visitors the establishment has extended it for another three weeks.

The museum's bosses were initially going to close the exhibition on Sunday (05.01.14) but they have decided to keep it open until January 26 to allow more visitors to take in the nine galleries and 150 objects.

All of the items are on loan from Diana's ancestral home, Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, central England.

Some of the pieces available to see at the exhibition include the princess' iconic wedding dress she wore when she tied the knot with Prince Charles on July 29, 1981.

The couple later divorced in August 1996.

Charles and Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry, will take possession of the collection's items following the end of the exhibition's worldwide tour in the summer.
