John Barrowman was awarded an MBE by Princess Anne.
The 'Torchwood' actor was honoured with an MBE by the Princess Royal during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday (14.10.14).
The 47-year-old screen and stage actor wore a traditional tartan kilt to honour his Scottish roots as he accepted his medal from Princess Anne.
He later tweeted: "It was so great to have Scott and my Mum and Dad to share the day. My parents were just beaming. (sic)"
Sporting stars, Kelly Gallagher, a visually impaired skier and Charlotte Evans, her sighted partner, were also honoured at the event for their services to sport after their win at the 2014 Paralympic Games.
After accepting her MBE from the Princess Royal, Kelly said: "We've been really lucky to win a Paralympic medal but to be honoured in this way is incredible."
Acclaimed golfer Laura Davies - who has previously been awarded a CBE and MBE - was also made a Dame.
Elsewhere in the palace, the Queen greeted Marguerite Pindling, the Governor-General of the Bahamas.
The 82-year-old Governor-General was invested with the Insignia of a Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George.
Angelina Jolie was made an honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George at a ceremony on Friday (10.10.14) in recognition of her humanitarian work.
