Hackers allegedly tried to access to mobile phones of Princes William and Harry's closest aide.
A court heard that 416 attempts were made in a bid to access the mobile of their private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, after a News International "private wire" phone - which allowed desk-based landlines to route calls through a mobile number- tried to access his voice mail between October 2005 and August 2006.
The method was also used in an attempt to hack the phone of Mark Dyer, former private secretary to Charles, 296 times, in addition to a number of public figures such as ex-glamour model Katie Price and former culture secretary Tessa Jowell.
Jurors were shown a document which allegedly detailed 850 calls from a private wire to phone numbers and voicemails, and it's heard the attempts were in a bid to beat out rival journalists at the Mail On Sunday and former News of the World deputy editor Neil Wallis.
Mark Dyer was appointed as the Prince of Wales's private secretary with responsibility for William and Harry for eight years following the death of their mother Diana.
Meanwhile Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton still works for William, Harry and the Duchess Of Cambridge and was named as godfather to Prince George.
All defendants deny all charges and the trial at the Old Bailey will resume on Wednesday. (04.12.13)
