Prince William

Prince William

Prince William's tutor was told not to address the future king using his surname.

Britain's Duke of Cambridge, who is returning to student life by completing an agriculture course at the University of Cambridge, had to be called 'Prince William' by teachers during his time at Eton College in Berkshire.

In an interview with The Stage, his tutor Guy Burt said: "The only difference his status made - apart from the slightly heightened security alerts - was that I was told to address him as Prince William and not by his surname like the other boys."

Guy, who is now a scriptwriter for the hit TV show 'The Bletchley Circle' added: "He was quite quiet [at college] and pretty good at English, as I recall."

The 31-year-old royal is undertaking a ten-week course at the University of Cambridge and has been organised to give him an understanding of issues affecting farms and rural communities.

It will come in handy when he inherits the Duchy of Cornwall, belonging to his father Prince Charles, one of the biggest private estates in the country.

The second-in-line to the throne, who has a geography degree from St Andrew's University, will have about 20 hours a week of lectures and meetings.

He may also be sent on field trips and asked to complete work in his own time, at home with wife Catherine and son George, who is nearly six-months-old.
