Britain's Prince William's helicopter trainer has been killed in a crash.
David Traill, 51, was one of eight people to die on Friday (29.11.13) after the helicopter he was flying lost control and smashed into the Clutha pub in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sources told The Sun newspaper that David was one of the six tutors who helped William - who recently completed three years as an RAF Search and Rescue pilot - on a 10-day flight training course in 2008.
A spokesman for RAF Odiham, which is based in Hampshire, southern England, said: "I can confirm he was a retired Chinook flying instructor."
David had more than 4,000 hours of flying experience and also captained an RAF Chinook display team.
William has now left operational service, although he officially remains in the force until January 2014, and has taken on a number of official royal duties including performing his first investiture ceremony in October in place of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
The 31-year-old prince wore his RAF uniform during the event in which he bestowed honours upon recipients including singer Aled Jones, TV producer Jon Plowman and tennis ace Andy Murray at Buckingham Palace.
