Prince William and Duchess Catherine to spend New Years Eve with the Middleton family.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine are planning to spend New Years Eve with the Middleton family in Berkshire, south east England after spending Christmas with the Queen in Sandringham.
The couple have been in Sandringham, east England, where they celebrated Christmas with Queen Elizabeth and they are planning to travel to Bucklebury in Berkshire, south east England, where they will join Catherine's - known as Kate Middleton before she married William - family to kick off 2014.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want to split time between both their families and are looking forward to spending time with "doting grandparents" Carole and Michael Middleton to their five-month-old tot Prince George.
A friend of the pair's told the Sunday Express newspaper: "William and Kate are just like any normal couple and want to spend time with both families.
"It's a situation that millions can identify with, and obviously you can't be in two places at once.
"So this year they are reversing it and seeing in 2014 with Catherine's family.
"They have been amazingly supportive in the past couple of years and of course they are doting grandparents to George.
"William likes being at Sandringham, but he also loves the informality of staying with Kate's parents and just chilling out in a normal family environment."
The Duchess' sister Pippa Middleton and her boyfriend Nico Jackson, and brother James with girlfriend Donna Air are expected to have been invited to the "lively" bash.
The friend added: "It's going to be a lively night with a great party atmosphere.
"The Middletons are always great hosts and like guests to enjoy themselves."
