Britain's Prince Philip asked for his office paperwork while he was in hospital.
The Duke of Edinburgh is said to be keen to get back to work despite only leaving the London Clinic in Harley Street, London, yesterday (17.06.13) after undergoing an exploratory operation on his abdomen 11 days ago, but he made sue he was kept in the loop about life outside the medical facility.
A royal source told the Daily Express newspaper: "I think the problem's going to be holding him back. He virtually ran out of the hospital. He has been asking for his paperwork from his office while he's been in hospital."
Philip isn't expected to return to full-time royal duties until the autumn following a two-month spell of recuperation at Windsor Castle, Berkshire, south east England, and another two-month spell of rest at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the royals' traditional summer residence.
A senior royal aide added: "He may undertake the occasional private engagement but I don't think he will be on duty in public until the autumn."
Buckingham Palace has declined to say what was wrong with Philip - who spent his 92nd birthday in hospital earlier this month - but he is not expected to require further treatment for the condition.
A spokesman said: "The duke is in good condition and good spirits. He'll take a period of convalescence, of approximately two months.
"The duke has expressed his thanks and appreciation to medical staff at the London Clinic and the many members of the public who have sent good wishes."
