Prince Harry

Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry is "terrified" of his new job.

The 29-year-old prince recently announced he will no longer serve in the Army Air Corps - where he was deployed to Afghanistan twice in his role as an Apache helicopter pilot - and is instead taking on a Staff Officer role in London but is said to have told pals he is wary of "flying a desk" in the administrative position.

A source told the Sunday People newspaper: "Staff work is not his greatest strength. He's more of a field soldier. That's why he loved Afghanistan."

Harry - who will help co-ordinate official state visits from foreign dignitaries and help plan ceremonial parades - knows he needs to do the job if he wants a lengthy Army career as a high-ranking officer.

The source continued: "Harry joined the Army to lead men in battle, not to sit behind a desk pushing papers.

"But if you want a career in the Army you have to do your stint as a staff officer."

And an officer who has recently completed a role similar to the one Harry is taking on warned the prince is likely to get "bored".

They said: "Harry will be bored. The hours there are long and as the junior officer in the team he will be the dogsbody.

"Staff jobs like this can often feel like a punishment."
