Prince Harry

Britain's Prince Harry is "excited" about starting his South Pole trek.

The flame-haired royal and the Walking With The Wounded charity teams flew out of Novo (Novolazarevskaya Station), the Russian air base located near the edge of the Antarctic, to the starting point of their 208-mile South Pole expedition, which is due to begin on Saturday (30.11.13).

Victoria Nicholson, Expedition Manager, said: "I think there is a great sense of excitement now and it really felt as though the expedition was finally coming together and nearing the point which we have been working towards for the last two years now."

Harry and his fellow trekkers had previously been hit by delays courtesy of a huge storm but Clarence House confirmed the royal left Novo earlier today (27.11.13).

A post on Clarence House's official Twitter account read: "Prince Harry leaves Novo, Antarctica with the @SupportTheWalk teams - the race will start soon #SouthPole2013 (sic)"

Harry recently joked he thinks his brother Prince William - who has four-month-old baby Prince George with wife Duchess Catherine - is "jealous" about him doing the trek because he is away from the little one.

He said: "My brother, I think he's just quite jealous that I managed to get away from a screaming child."
