Prince Harry claims he tried to get out of his trek across Antarctica.
The 29-year-old royal - who broke his toe ahead of his expedition - has described the incident as a "massive fail" before joking that he had hoped the injury would excuse him from the grueling 200 mile-race towards the South Pole.
He told Sky News: "I obviously broke my toe hoping to get out of the trip that was a massive fail on my part. Friends of mine said I really should have gone that step further and break a leg, but I chose not to."
The Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge 2013 sees participants - most of whom are ex-servicemen with life long injuries - race in temperatures as low as -45 C, and Harry confirmed earlier this month that he would still go ahead with the trip in spite of his injury.
He explained: "My toe is now 95%, so I'm fine and even if i mention my toe I see Duncan turn around laugh at me, mock me, so whatever setbacks I've had is irrelevant against these guys, it was always going to be."
It's reported the teams from the UK, US and the Commonwealth will continue the race this week after a huge storm left them confined to the safety of their accommodation.
