Britain's Prince Harry teased he'd had a "cold" night's sleep after spending 20 hours in a freezer.
The 29-year-old royal practiced putting up tents and hiking through blizzard winds in a weather simulator set the temperature of minus 35C, in a bid to make sure he was mentally and emotionally ready for the Walking with the Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge in November.
As the prince emerged from the testing facility yesterday (17.09.13), he was spotted rubbing his hands together in an attempt to get warm before nibbling on some delicious biscuits and drinking hot tea.
Harry said the worst part of the practice challenge was "going in" before joking that the sleep was made even harder because the wind chill created a temperature that felt like minus 55C.
The party-loving prince shared a tent with Captain Ibrar Ali, who lost his right arm in an explosion in 2007, and Major Kate Philp, who had her leg amputated following a hidden bomb blast.
Major Philp told Sky News: "He's [Harry] experienced at this, having spent time at the North Pole.
"He knows what he's doing. He's got his military training, so he's a good extra pair of hands."
The British team will go head-to-head against a team from the US - including Alexander Skarsgard - in a 208-mile trek from the 87 degrees latitude line to the South Pole.
It is thought the race will take 21 days to complete and each day the teams will endure 12 hours of skiing, with just 10-minute rest breaks every two hours.
