The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Prince George

Britain's Prince George is expected to be christened this autumn.

The royal baby - who was born on Monday afternoon (22.07.13) in the private Lindo Wing of London's St Mary's Hospital - is due to be baptised in a low-key religious ceremony when his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth returns from her summer residency at Balmoral.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are rumoured to only be inviting family, close friends and their newborn son's godparents to the event, a stark contrast to the elaborate televised royal wedding in April 2011.

The future heir - whose full name is Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge - is likely to be christened in a replica of the lace gown used by the royal family for decades, which was first worn by Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Marie Claire magazine is claiming.

The traditional outfit was last worn by Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Prince William and Duchess Catherine will be spending the next two weeks out of the limelight at Catherine's parents' home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, South East England.

The happy couple, both 31, set off in their Range Rover at 12.55pm yesterday (24.07.13) and were greeted by heightened security outside the £5 million property.

Catherine - formerly known as Kate Middleton - may remain in Bucklebury after William's paternity leave from the RAF ends so her mother Carole can help her with the baby.
