Princess Diana

Princess Diana

Britain's Prince Charles was the love of Princess Diana's life, according to one of her closest friends.

Lucia Flecha de Lima claims she asked the late princess - who died in a car crash in 1997 - about her love life and was told she "certainly did not" feel any passion towards Dodi Fayed, who also died in the same accident, and it was Charles who she loved the most.

Speaking at the opening of the movie 'Diana' in her native Brazil, Lucia is quoted by MailOnline as saying: "If you ask me if she had some passion for Hasnat, I don't know, it is possible. But for Dodi Fayed I am certain she did not. I know because I asked her.

"The love of Diana's life was Prince Charles, I have no doubt about this."

Lucia used to meet Diana several times a week in London after becoming friends with her in 1990 when she was the wife of the then-Brazilian ambassador.

In 2007, the South American told the inquest into Diana's death that she thought the Princess of Wales was keen to lead a "middle-class life" by marrying Dr. Hasnat Khan, but she didn't think it would be possible.
