Britain's Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have begun their tour of India with a trip to the Parmarth Niketan Temple.
The royal couple wore garlands around their necks as they attended a sunset Aarti ceremony on the banks of the River Ganges, after arriving in the country today (06.11.13) ahead of a nine-day tour of the nation.
Charles and Camilla received a memorable reception at the temple in the holy city of Rishikesh, which became famous internationally in 1968 when it was visited by The Beatles.
The pair's trip will include a visit to one of the world's largest Hindu temples in New Delhi and one of the oldest active synagogues in the commonwealth, which is located in Kochi in the south Indian state of Kerala.
In Mumbai, the couple are planning to pay their respects to victims of the 2008 terrorist attacks on the city. They will be meeting with staff of the Taj Mahal hotel, who saved guests' lives by guiding them to safety during the atrocities.
Camilla will also be attending a number of solo engagements before helping her husband celebrate his 65th birthday on the final day of their tour.
They will then travel to Sri Lanka, where Charles is attending the 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting on behalf of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
