Prince Charles wished he had grandchildren earlier.
The 65-year-old monarch - who celebrated his birthday last week - reportedly told guests at the lavish bash at Buckingham Palace, how "envious" he became of his friends who already had grandchildren and he is overjoyed by the arrival of his first grandson, Prince George, who was welcomed by his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in July (22.07.13).
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "[He described] how he really enjoyed being a grandfather and how he wished he had grandchildren earlier. He said he was envious of his friends who already have many grandchildren."
Prince Charles was joined by his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall at the £500,000 celebration courtesy of Indian private equity tycoon, Cyrus Vandrevala , who had reportedly footed the bill.
400 VIP guests at the party were treated to a champagne reception and a concert from the Philharmonia orchestra, of which Prince Charles has been a patron for 35 years.
