Britain's Prince Charles is due to make his first royal engagement since becoming a grandfather.
The 64-year-old heir and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Royal Welsh Show in Powys, Mid Wales, today (24.07.13), less than 24 hours after meeting his grandson for the very first time.
Charles was determined to honour his long-standing engagement to attend the Llanelwedd-based event, which is run by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS), of which he used to be president.
The prince said he was "thrilled and very excited" to meet his "marvellous" grandson - who is yet to be named - during a visit to Duchess Catherine's bedside at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, yesterday afternoon (23.07.13).
The proud granddad and step-grandma Camilla spent less than 30 minutes with the baby and were forced to leave at 5.24pm so they could travel to Wales for the function.
The BBC is reporting that RWAS are "delighted with the news of a new royal baby" and have promised a "packed itinerary" for the royal couple and guests at the Royal Welsh Show.
Charles will kick off his visit by meeting RWAS staff, before attending the cattle, main and sheep ring events and a reception for the Prince's Countryside Fund.
Meanwhile, Camilla is due to visit the food hall and Green Pavilion, where she will chat to children from the RWAS's Young Members Forum, as well as stopping by the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) hut.
Charles will also be presented with the National Sheep Association (NSA) George Hedley Memorial Award in a special ceremony.
