Prince Charles

Prince Charles

Britain's Prince Charles visited Romania yesterday (03.06.13).

The Prince of Wales met with Romania's President Traian Basescu in the Transylvania region - where he owns three properties and makes several visits each year - and the politician joked Charles is so in love with the nation he will soon own a whole village there.

Jozsef Kasleder, Mayor of Valea Zalanului, sparked speculation Charles had splashed the cash on a fourth Romanian abode, but Clarence House denied the reports.

They said: "[The] prince has not bought another property in Romania."

The prince arrived in the country on Thursday (30.05.13) and stayed at his Valea Zalanului estate, where farmers took horses with the aim of trying to sell them to the prince.

As well as his love for Romania, Charles also claims to be related to Vlad the Impaler - a cruel 15th century Romanian warlord who helped to inspire Bram Stoker's 1897 vampire novel 'Dracula'. He previously stated genealogy supports his claim, giving him a stake in the future of the country.

The prince previously referred to Transylvania as a national treasure thanks to its centuries-old farming traditions and its unspoiled landscape.
