Australian radio DJ Mel Greig feels "so much guilt" over the death of royal hoax nurse Jacintha Saldanha.
The nurse committed suicide in December 2012 after transferring a call from Mel and 2DayFM broadcast partner Michael Christian, who posed as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles and successfully gained information about Duchess Catherine's pregnancy on air.
In an interview with Australia's Channel Seven - recorded September but only allowed to air last night (01.06.14) due to legal issues - Mel admitted she has been a shell of herself since the tragic incident, which led to Jacintha blaming her and Michael in her suicide note.
She said: "You're meeting a Mel that has no confidence, a Mel that's so lost with her life, a Mel that feels so much blame and so much guilt nine months down the track. This Mel's depressed."
The radio personality also opened up about the death threats she and her family have received since the tragedy.
She said: "They would ring my mum and say, 'Eye for an eye, you need to die because she died.' There was so many horrible phone calls.
"Dad was rushed to hospital because of the stress and I thought, 'Oh great, now I've killed my dad, too.' "
Since the incident, Mel has sued her employer and claims she tried to stop the prank call from airing.
She lamented: "I should have tried harder not to let that prank call air. It never should have aired."
