Matt Smith says it was a "real treat" showing Prince Charles around the 'Doctor Who' set.
The Princes of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited BBC Wales' new Roath Lock studios in Cardiff, Wales, yesterday (03.07.13), and Matt - who plays the titular Time Lord - was shocked to find out how much of a Whovian the royal is.
He said: "It was great to welcome the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to set today. Showing them how to fly the TARDIS was a real treat and something I never thought I would be doing when I first took on the role.
"The Prince of Wales said he remembers watching the show when he was 15 and seemed very knowledgeable on the Who history, so it's nice to think they are watching."
Matt's co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman - who plays the Doctor's sidekick Clara Oswald - was also delighted to meet the royal couple on the show's set, but she managed to avoid giving away too many spoilers about the sci-fi series' upcoming 50th anniversary special.
She said: "Meeting the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall today was such an honour. The prince was particularly interested in the mechanics of how the TARDIS works and the storyline for the upcoming 50th anniversary special, but I didn't give too many secrets away."
During the visit - which was part of the prince and duchess' annual week-long trip to Wales - Charles impersonated 'Doctor Who' villains The Daleks' famous catchphrase "exterminate", and the royal couple also met the programme's showrunner Steven Moffat.
