Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to hold a poppy day event at Kensington Palace.
The royal couple - who welcomed their son Prince George into the world three months ago - will welcome military supporters into the grounds of their home today (07.11.13) to mark London poppy day.
The Duke and Duchess will meet staff and volunteers as part of a Royal British Legion tour across the UK capital on a 1960s Routemaster Bus, while Prince Philip and Prince Harry will visit the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in London.
The royals will pay their respects by laying a Cross of Remembrance in front of two wooden crosses, which have been taken from the graves of unknown British soldiers, who died in the First and Second World wars.
There will be performances from Barbara Windsor - who is the British Legion ambassador - and the Poppy Girls on the stage in Covent Garden, London, throughout the day as well.
Organisers are hoping to raise more than £1 million in one day, with all funds going towards the national Poppy Appeal, which has a target of £37 million to allow the Royal British Legion to carry out its work.
Remembrance Sunday will be held on Sunday 10 November.
