Britain's Duchess of Cornwall visited the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show yesterday (10.07.13).
The 65-year-old royal took a trip around the showground in Richmond, Greater London, before presenting Tom Galligan with the Young School Gardener of the Year prize, and the 16 year old was delighted to be given the accolade by Camilla.
He said: "Being given the title of RHS Young Gardener of the Year is brilliant, but being able to meet The Duchess of Cornwall makes it all the more special. I think it's so important to encourage people my age to get into gardening and this award will, I'm sure, help achieve this."
Camilla met a number of the other finalists, who were all aged between six and 16, at the show and she also took in the QEF (Queen Elizabeth Foundation) Garden for Joy.
The garden - which was created by designers Heather Appleton and Bella D'Arcy Reed - was specifically made for wheelchair users and features raised flower beds as well as unrestricted views from the pathway across the front of the plot.
Jonathan Powell, Chief Executive of QEF, said: "The QEF Garden for Joy has been designed to celebrate the life-changing work and support our charity gives to over 4,000 disabled children and adults every year.
"We are delighted to welcome the Duchess of Cornwall to our garden and show her the amazing achievements of people living with disabilities."
