The Duchess Of Cambridge made a solo appearance at the SportsAid ball last night. (28.11.13).

Duchess Catherine left her four-month-old baby, Prince George, with a baby sitter as she attended the charity ball held at fashionable pop-up venue Supernova in London.

The 31-year-old royal -who became patron of SportsAid in April - was joined by a host of sportsmen at the fundraiser which will help aid Britain's next generation of athletes who aim to emulate the success of Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics.

Catherine also congratulated fellow mother, Olympic gold-medallist rower Anna Watkins who gave birth to her two-month-old son in September.

Anna said: "She asked me what I've been up to since the Olympics and I said 'well actually I've had a baby.

"Kate said congratulations and said 'will you go back to rowing?' I told her I have no current plans to but am not ruling it out. Life has changed."

650 guests were treated to judo and a fencing match during the lavish dinner and stars on the night included pentathlon gold medallist Dame Mary Peters and para-equestrian Natasha Baker, who won two gold medals at London 2012.

Prince William did not make an appearance as he attended a dinner at Buckingham Palace for a proposed new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre.
