Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Tusk Trust awards ceremony tonight (12.09.13).

The couple will be present at the event in central London, which recognises outstanding figures in wildlife conservation, in their first official royal engagement since the arrival of their son Prince George - the third-in-line to the throne - in July.

During the ceremony, which is being filmed for Prince William's new documentary 'New Father, New Hope', two awards will be presented, a lifetime achievement award named after the Duke and the recognising an up-and-coming conservationist gong.

The Duchess - who was known as Kate Middleton before she married William in 2011 - was expected to spend two months away from the limelight so she could spend time bonding with her new baby, but decided last minute to join her husband for a small engagement two weeks ago.

A source said previously: "Initially the duchess wasn't going to attend but she was also keen for the chance to thank the people of Anglesey herself for the warmth and hospitality they have shown her and the Duke."

William was in good spirits and got the crowd laughing as he cupped his hand to his ear when he heard a baby cry and said: "We're hearing a bit of that at the moment!"

Catherine, 31, added: "He [George] is sleeping at the moment for now - fingers crossed!"
