David Cameron has congratulated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their daughter.
The British Prime Minister took to Twitter to express his joy at the news of the child's birth earlier today (02.05.15), saying he was "delighted".
Writing on the site, he said: "Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby girl. I'm absolutely delighted for them."
Meanwhile, celebrities have been quick to congratulate the couple on their second child, who was born at 8.34am, weighing 8lbs 3oz.
Singer Katherine Jenkins, who is currently pregnant, said: "Welcome to the world little Princess! Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their healthy baby girl #RoyalBaby (sic)."
Dame Joan Collins also commented on the birth, predicting the newborn baby will be named after her great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
She guessed: "#RoyalBaby name Elizabeth ? What do the bookies say ? (sic)"
Other famous faces to have commented on the royal birth include singer and 'The X Factor UK' judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who added she is "excited" to catch a glimpse of the princess.
She wrote: "Congratulations William and Kate. So excited to see our new little princess!! #itsagirl (sic)."
