Charlotte is the bookmakers' favourite for the name of the newborn royal baby.
The second child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was born at 08.34 BST this morning (02.05.15) after a short labour, and British bookmaker Paddy Power has slashed odds of the young princess being named Charlotte to 3/1.
Alice is the second favourite name with odds of 4/1, while Victoria and Olivia both have odds of 5/1.
Elsewhere in the top 10 favourite names for the child - who will spend her first night at Kensington Palace this evening along with her parents and older brother, 21-month-old Prince George - is the name of her great grandmother, Elizabeth (8/1), and her late grandmother Diana (10/1), as well as Alexandra (14/1), Mary (20/1), Grace (25/1) and Rose (25/1).
Although the couple have not yet hinted at a name for the child, former MP and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth has tweeted claiming the royal daughter will be named Caroline - a name which currently has odds of 66/1 - to honour Catherine's mother, Carole Middleton.
He wrote: "Diane Evans (who knows) tells me the names have been settled: Caroline Elizabeth Frances (the Caroline both a nod to Carole & royal) (sic)."
