Britain's Queen Elizabeth gave her old dresses to Princess Alexandra.
The 89-year-old royal let her younger cousin have some of her hand-me-downs when they were unable to buy clothes because of the rations in the Second World War.
Speaking in an interview for the Elizabeth At 90 - A Family Tribute documentary, the 79-year-old royal said: "Because of the clothing coupons, it was quite difficult to get hold of clothes.
"So they were very kind to me, my cousins - I think it was Princess Elizabeth mainly - they let me have one or two of their dresses."
Meanwhile, in a previously released interview from the same documentary, Princess Anne revealed her mother saw it as a "mixed blessing" to be named the longest reigning monarch because it reminded her of the tragic death of her father, George VI, at such a young age.
She explained: "Don't forget, there's a very double-edged sword. People tend to forget, when she passed the longest-reigning monarch, that was only because her father died so young. So you know for her that's a very mixed blessing, and it's a record that she would much rather not have been able to pass."
