William and Kate hire new press secretary

Ed Perkins will start the job in December, when he leaves his current position as the deputy press secretary to the Queen. He will work closely with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Prince Harry, as the three young royals set up their own court at Kensington Palace.

Mr Perkins previously worked for the Duke of York, and proved his skills as a press officer with his handling of the controversy that arose when it came to light that that the Duke was friends with a convicted child sex offender.

This would make him the perfect man for the job, as Mr Perkins will have to deal with high profile crises, such as Prince Harry's now famous and controversial pool party in Vegas.

He is also a member of the Territorial Army, so he will be able to sympathise with William and Harry over their taxing military careers.

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge set up their own court at Kensington in the autumn, they will gain a lot more autonomy and independence in their own affairs.

This move comes after the Queen handed over the royal presence Olympics games to the next generation of royals, as their popularity with the general public has rocketed over the last year.
