The Queen will host a garden party at Balmoral, as she prepares the end of the revelries for her Diamond Jubilee.
Events to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne began in June, when the country was given a four day weekend to celebrate. A procession of boats headed down the Thames, before a concert was held in the monarch’s honour at Buckingham Palace.
The garden party will be the first time an event of this size has been held at the Scottish castle, since the Golden Jubilee in 2002.
The Queen’s husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, is expected to attend the party, after he missed out on much of his wife’s celebrations in June due to illness. Hopefully he will be fit and healthy this time.
