It is customary to take a gift when you meet a baby for the first time but as a new mum myself, I know there are certain gifts that are more useful than others. Here are some things that come in handy as a new parent if you are looking to buy a gift for a baby.
Clothes in the next size up- Chances are, the parents of the little one bought lots of clothes in a new-born size before they were born in preparation- but not the next size up. This will save them money when they baby grows out of their current size of sleepsuits and vests and bridges the gap if they don’t have the time to go out straight away to buy larger sizes if they suddenly have a growth spurt.
Vouchers- Find out where the parents shop the most for their little one (or intend to) and buy them a voucher for there. That way, they can choose for themselves what they need and when and there’s no danger of you getting something that isn’t to their taste. Remember to look for ones that do online shopping!
Nappies, nappy bags and wipes- These are one of the best presents you can buy because babies go through as many as ten nappies a day and who knows how many wipes. You can even buy a selection of nappy sizes to keep the parents going through each phase of their baby’s growth.
Bibs- Babies go through so many of these while they are still on milk and more-so when they start to wean, so you can never have enough!
Money for their future: You could give money to the parents to put away in a bank account for when they might need it for something significant. Although this is looking far into their future, there will always be something they need to save for.
Milk- If the baby is bottle fed- formula will always be appreciated as it is a huge cost to the parents. Find out what brand they use and get them a couple of tubs to help them save on the added expense of a new-born.
Products- As a parent, you can power through products like baby washes, lotions and nappy rash creams very quickly so parents will be grateful to have a stock of these in their home for if they run out before their next shop.
