They say that technology has taken over our lives as most of us are spending more and more of our free time either browsing the web or having a good old nosey at our social sites. But what happened to spending precious time with the family and all getting together to chat about our day?
Well, it seems as though families are getting together to create those special memories without any technology interruptions.
With the release of ‘You, Me & Them’ (launched Wednesday 23rd October), TV channel Gold’s first scripted comedy, a survey of 2,000 British adults revealed that two fifths of parents have banned mobile phones from the family favourite Sunday Dinner.
By banning gadgets from meal times parents believe this will ensure for proper quality time with the children without any distractions.
Another house rule that is becoming popular for British families is disconnecting the Wi-Fi as a punishment.
45% of the parents surveyed admitted that this was a forceful rule that they are not afraid to use!
As Christmas is slowing creeping up on us, Brits are well prepared for the family visits. The survey revealed that 25% of British Parents, from the 2,000 surveyed, agreed to make alternate visits to each of their parents every year.
The top ten rules for the modern family are:
1. Digital shut down on Sundays - Mobile phones banned from Sunday lunches (which are always eaten at the table) - 63%
2. Equal childcare - nappy changing and childcare at weekends shared equally - 52%
3. No WiFi as punishment - Children punished by turning off the WiFi and confiscating phones instead of grounding - 45%
