There's no need to worry about your bump

Pregancy can be one of the most exciting yet worrying times of a woman's life and though it does affect your everyday doings, there's no need to let it stop you enjoying exercise.

Research has even proven that it's beneficial to exercise correctly during your pregnancy, as it can help reduce nausea and boost your physical and mental wellbeing.

For a fit preganancy there are loads of muscle strengthening exercises you could do that improve circulation, ease backache and generally make you feel great, as well as preparing you for labour.

So, there's no need to worry, advice and help is out there and here at FemaleFirst we have some great tips on how to exercise safely whilst preganant.

- Always warm up before and cool down after exercising
- Drink plenty of water and fluids
- If you attend exercise classes, tell the instructor you're pregnant and how many weeks you are. Swimming classes or yoga are good for you, great fun and you can go to pre-natal classes wth qualified teachers
- Try to keep active on a daily basis, even if this is walking for half an hour
- Avoid any strenuous exercise in hot weather, any activity that's high impact, and extreme sports
- Listen to your body! Recognise that your body is changing when you can't get up from the floor as easily or your joints ache, remember it's normal and you're not expected to be able to do as much as you usually would
- Avoid exercising flat on your back as it puts pressue on the big blood vessels and can make you feel faint

If you didn't exercise before, there's no necessity to start now however low impact forms of exercise such as walking can boost your spirits and wellbeing. Remember your doctor knows best so if ever you're in any doubt, they're the person to ask.
