Last Friday, TV presenter Jenni Falconer helped host a very special award ceremony to support the unsung heroes that have made a real difference to certain people’s lives.
Sponsored by Mega Bloks, Mother & Baby magazine’s Big Heart Awards celebrate just that, people with big hearts. From family members that have always been there, to carers and professionals that have gone beyond the call of duty, the awards recognise the people that have helped families deal with extreme difficulties in pregnancy, birth, or parenthood.
Jenni Falconer said: “I am delighted to be able to support Bliss and the Big Heart Awards, sponsored by Mega Bloks. While I was lucky to have had a straightforward pregnancy and birth with my daughter, Ella, it is something that no mum or mum-to-be should ever take for granted.
“It's heart-warming to know that the lives of people who have experienced difficulties can be made more bearable through the help and support of others. I really enjoyed meeting some truly amazing people whose kindness has come to light through the Big Heart Awards."
The annual awards support charity Bliss, which is devoted to improving the lives of babies born too soon, too small, or too sick.
The event was also attended by actress Holly Matthews who is an on-going supporter of Bliss.
Claire Irvin, Editor-in-Chief of Mother & Baby, said: "This is a truly amazing event, and hearing our readers’ inspirational stories had me in tears more than once. We are so pleased to be able to give the incredible families battling overwhelming odds the recognition they deserve.”
Held at London Hilton on Park Lane, and with an indulgent afternoon tea for all guests, the award ceremony is all about celebrating those that have gone the extra mile. Categories included; Against All Odds Baby, A Family You Can Count On, and Beyond The Call of Duty (healthcare professional).
