Boyzone star and professional motorsport driver, Shane Lynch, has announced an innovative partnership between his company, Prestige Wrap & Customs, and the national charity, Caudwell Children to help customise children’s wheelchairs.

The ‘Dream Wheelz’ project is a collaboration between Prestige Wrap & Customs and the charity, which promises to add some personality to children’s wheelchairs by providing individual paintwork and customized seating.

The new project is set to be officially launched at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC on January 11 – 13where Shane will be driving in the live action show and meeting supporters of the charity at the Prestige Wrap & Customs exhibition stand.

Shane said: “I’ve wanted to do something like this for ages. A kid’s wheelchair is so important to them it is essential that it looks and feels cool. The guys at Prestige Wrap spend all day working on luxury cars; it will be great to add some of that flair to something as important as a wheelchair.”

Caudwell Children is a national charity providing practical and emotional support for disabled children living in the UK. Each year they provide hundreds of state-of-the-art powered wheelchairs for children up to 18 years old.

Charity Chief Executive, Trudi Beswick, said: “For a young disabled person their wheelchair is an extension of their personality, it goes everywhere with them.

“This wonderful project gives kids the chance to add some real street cred to their wheelchair and helps them express their own personality to everyone they meet. We are really grateful to Shane and the team at Prestige Wrap for supporting Caudwell Children and coming up with this great idea.”

The charity is now looking for sponsors for the Dream Wheelz project to help fund donations of new wheelchairs and cover the costs associated with the customisation.

The first customisation is already underway, with Ferrari fanatic 15-year-old Jordan Williams from Hatfield, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, discussing stylish designs with the Prestige Wrap team.

The ‘Dream Wheelz’ project will be launched at Autosport International 2013, taking place on January 11 – 13 at the NEC in Birmingham. For more information about the charity visit www.caudwellchildren.com, or to find out more about Prestige Wrap & Customs visit www.prestigewrap.co.uk.
