Parenting: Seven names for baby girls born in the month of April

Choosing a name for your baby is really difficult- some parents want their children to have the same name as a living relative, others prefer their offspring to have a name that is entirely their own with no family connection. Some caregivers choose a name based on where their little bundle of joy was conceived- whatever you decide- there is no right or wrong answer- just a clear deadline! If your baby girl is due in the month of April and you’re still not sure what to call your little one perhaps you could name her after the month in which they are born or things associated with it. Here are some relevant suggestions which you may not have considered yet.

Yes it’s an obvious one, but if your baby is due in April and it’s a girl, this is a valid option. Derived from the Latin meaning ‘spring’, this name has become increasingly popular, along with other months of the year. Perfect for fans of Glee (April Rhodes), Vampire Diaries (April Young), Grey’s Anatomy (April Kepner) and Parks and Recreation (April Ludgate), this might just be the one for the parents who are also boxset enthusiasts and chances are their daughter will be too.

Diamond

The birthstone of April is the diamond- generally gifted when asking for a hand in marriage- this could mean your little girl will have expensive tastes- as the saying goes- ‘diamonds are a girl’s best friend’, so make sure you have plenty of money to spend on them and that they find a rich suitor when they grow up!

Daisy

The birth flower of April is a Daisy- thought to be associated with innocence and purity, which could not be more fitting for a little baby girl. Daisies are often chosen for newborn clothing because their simple yet attractive design is synonymous with the natural beauty of a bouncing baba! What better way to spend time with your daughter when you are older than making chains out of the flower she is named after?

Avril

Avril means April in French so for anyone of French descent, this is a fitting name for a baby born in this month as well as fans of the singer Avril Lavigne! This might hold even more significance if your baby was conceived in the country on say a honeymoon or vacation.

Raine

If there is one thing that is guaranteed in April, that is wet weather. That’s why they call them ‘April showers’, so if your baby is born to the sound of raindrops on the window of the maternity ward, this is a strong contender.

Bluebell

Bluebells are flowers that bloom from mid-April into May so if your baby is born towards the end of the month, this is a wonderful option for a baby girl. If you are a keen walker among the bluebell woodlands of the UK, it’s highly likely that one day your little one will join you and be surrounded by a blanket of the very bluey/purple flowers they are named after. And what a picture opportunity that will be!

Ramona

Babies born in early April fall under the banner of the Aries sign of the zodiac, which is represented by a ram so for any families who live and breathe by their daily horoscope- this could be a nice nod to the time of the year in which they are born.
