How to look after baby’s delicate skin during the winter

Babies lose heat a lot faster than adults do and so they are more susceptible to the effects of the cold. Layers will trap air to create an effective insulator so rather than putting your baby in one thick outfit wrap him in several layers of light-to-medium-weight clothing – fleece and cotton are the best fabrics. Also, ensure that you have a hat, mittens, socks, boots and a warm coat in your baby’s cold weather wardrobe.

Exposure to dry air and windy weather combined with the opposite extreme, central heating, are causes of common winter skin problems. Remember to moisturise your baby’s skin twice a day using a fragrance-free hypoallergenic lotion bearing in mind that the cheeks, nose and lips are likely to become particularly dry during the winter.

Remember that snow reflects sunlight so it’s best to include a suncream with at least SPF 30 in your little one’s winter skincare regime.

Remember that certain areas are more susceptible to sweat such as the and nappy area. It is recommended to use a nappy that  protects delicate skin from wetness.
