This Christmas, why not turn your hand to making your own tree decorations? Not only will it help you save money but it will also be an innovative way to ensure your decorations are completely unique.

Making your own decorations is also a great way to spend some quality time with the kids. Children will love embellishing their own decorations with glitter, paint and sequins. They can even add to their collection each Christmas and see how their creativity improves from year to year.

Bosch has worked with DIY expert, Becky Clarke, to put together the ultimate Christmas decorations.

On a piece of card, draw some Christmas shapes such as a star, tree, angel or reindeer. Once you are happy with the shape, cut each one out carefully with scissors.

Place the card shapes on 6mm MDF or thin plywood, space them out, then carefully draw round each one with a pencil. Mark out as many shapes as you want to make.

Using the Bosch PST 650L jigsaw with an appropriate blade, carefully cut out all your seasonal shapes. If there are any rough edges, smooth carefully with the Bosch PSM 80A sander and fine sandpaper.

Get the kids involved to help you paint on a layer of undercoat, then two coats of top coat paint in pretty colours to suit your overall Christmas tree theme. Decorate with transfers, glitter and ribbon for a fabulous Christmas.
