Over the festive period the shops are busier than ever and the thought of battling with crazy Christmas shoppers is terrifying enough, never mind doing it with your child.
Unless you stay indoors and do it sitting safely behind your computer, there's no such thing as stress-free Christmas shopping.
So we've come up with some tips to hopefully make shopping with your child a little less hassle.
1. Get organised - make a list before going shopping of what you need, this way you can have a clear idea what you're going for and can be as quick as possible
2. Talk to them - tell your child exactly what you expect when you're both out shopping. Good behaviour, no shouting or screaming
3. Get them involved - if your child is slightly older make them a little list of items for them to find in the supermarket. Pretending it's a game will not only keep them occupied, but they might look forward to going again
4. Avoid the crowd - shopping during rush hours is enough hassle on your own never mind taking a child. Can you delay your shop until a better time the next day? Even with a busy to-do list it might be worth it when it saves you a tantrum in a busy shop
5. Think what's best for them - with babies and infants if it's their nap time or they're hungry it will only cause a drama taking them shopping
6. Relax - if you or your child reaches their limit and you've had enough, don't rush home in a panic. Go outside for 10 minutes or sit down somewhere quiet for a drink and a break to relax yourself and your child
