Getting outdoors is great for family health and bonding

There’s nowhere better to feel at one with nature than the great British outdoors. Now that the summer break is here, families looking to keep the kids (and the adults) amused whilst enjoying themselves should give one of Regatta’s recommended UK walks a try.

The outdoor clothing and footwear brand offers everything to keep you comfy and stylish on your walk so, what are you waiting for? Get your boots and compasses and start walking!

Regatta’s top four UK walks:

Near London:

Ashridge Estate:

Distance: 2 miles

Difficulty rating: Medium

The Ashridge Estate is a large area of ancient woodland that runs across the borders of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire along the ridge of the Chilterns Hills.

There are two routes with a firm surface and no stiles, gates or other obstructions, making it great for those with small children and pets. Start near the visitor centre and meander through the estate at your leisure. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of rest points as well as a lovely tea room to relax in after a great day out.  Additional facilities include car parking and toilets.

Scotland:

Conic Hill at Balmaha:

Distance: 3.25 miles

Difficulty rating: Medium

A sharp summit but worth it for the phenomenal views, Conic Hill is the perfect family walk set against the stunning backdrop of Loch Lomond and some of the majestic mountains of Southern Scotland. Start in the car park in the centre of Balmaha, where you’ll also find an information centre to help get you on your way.

This walk is truly a great day out in a beautiful setting.

Lake District:

Elterwater to Skelwith Bridge:

Distance: 2.4 miles

Difficulty rating: Moderate

Enjoy a breath-taking walk while taking in lakeside meadows, the iconic Skelwith Bridge, a roaring waterfall and great food at a variety of locations. Quite simply this remarkable walk has it all!

After your trek enjoy refreshments at the Britannia Inn or Chester’s Café and don’t forget to take a camera to take family snaps along the way.

Snowdonia:

Janus Path:

Distance: 1 mile

Difficulty rating: Easy

At the edge of Llynn Cwellyn, this walk boasts an accessible wooden boardwalk (disabled/buggy accessibility) through the woodland where you can enjoy total tranquillity.

Stroll through wild flower meadows and put your feet up at a variety of seating areas where you can take in the views of the beautiful Lake Janus to the mountains beyond.

This walk is great for picnic stops so pack a basket full of your family’s favourite treats and make the most of what is quite simply a magical place.
